April Reading List

We’re just a week into April and that means its time for this month’s reading list! If you finished up 4 books last month you are already ahead of me! I keep stacking my books to read and finding other busy things to fill my time with. We’re going on vacation this month and I’m planning to get a TON of reading done on our flight to London.

My goal is to finish 50 books throughout the year and I am inviting you to join in on the challenge. Check out last month’s list or start your challenge with this month’s selections.

Recommended Reading List

Neverwhere: A Novel

This is a one of my FAVORITE Neil Gaiman Novels. Set in London its the perfect read for a flight over to the city itself. This story follows Richard Mayhew has he falls from the world of upper London into London Below, a realm of magic and oddity where Richard is challenged find is way back to the life he knows. With most, if not all Gaiman novels, nothing is as you think it is and you’ll enjoy the anticipating the unexpected turns in the adventure as it unfolds.

The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing

I’ve heard amazing things about this book. As a new home owner its hard to find the time to keep the entire house clean, and easy to file (cough PILE) things away for properly dealing with another day. This New York Times best seller by Marie Kondo The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up uses a cleaning style known as the KonMari Method to simply and organize your home and is supposed to be like bringing a ‘Zen Nanny’ into your your life (and who couldn’t use that!).

11/22/63: A Novel

We just finished watching the new Hulu series of 11/22/63 and I definitely need to re-read the book after trying to piece together the live action plot line. This story is the telling of JFK’s assassination, through the eyes of someone who travels from the future in an attempt to stop Lee Harvey Oswald. Its a great fictionalization of the main characters who left such a huge impact on history has we know it.

Furiously Happy: A Funny Book About Horrible Things

I went to Jenny Lawson’s book signing last fall and somehow I haven’t actually finished the book yet. If you aren’t familiar with who Jenny Lawson is go directly to the Bloggess and start reading backwards. Don’t stop until you get to the story about Beyonce. Or just start here, that works too. Furiously Happy is Jenny’s second book and through her amazing story telling shares her experience living with depression and mental illness.
