Spring Cleaning Essentials

Spring Cleaning with Pets

As the season turns warm, its become the time of year when I spend most days chasing Rogue around the house with a broom. Corgi’s are constant shedders, but during the spring cleaning up after her becomes a daily staple. Ironically we picked a corgi because the ‘thought’ they shed less than huskies. Jokes on me.

With spring cleaning on the horizon, the thought of corgi fluff bunnies all over the house has me on high alert and the Shark® Rocket Complete with DuoClean™ Technology is the ideal solution for staying on top of the fur. I have been a huge fan of Shark for years. When I first switched over I was a combination impressed/horrified/shocked at how much fur was in the canister after just one run (especially considering that I had run the OLD vacuum before hand).

With two years of my semi-ok house cleaning combined with the corgi fluff this spring is time for a deep that can help get rid of the dust thats built up in the corners, tops of built-ins and blinds. The new Shark Rocket Complete has the ability to swap from vacuuming the floor to the top of the built ins in minutes.

Lightweight and easy to transition the Rocket Complete picks up fur, dust, and anything else that gets dragged in on the floor. With rugs, carpets and hardwoods in my house I need versatility to help me get everything cleaning in one swoop and with the Rocky Complete I can even pop out the brush roll and swap from carpet cleaning to hardwoods – hows that for versatility?

When it comes to cleaning, the less I have to do, and the less products I need in my house to get it done – the better. The Shark Rocket means I can combine dusting, vacuuming and sweeping into one compact package that rolls away in the closet.

What are your go-to spring cleaning essentials?

Living Room Makeover: Adding An Area Rug

One of the challenges with open floor plan homes is defining the spaces. We have a semi-open first floor and while its a bit obvious what room is for what, [Living room, Kitchen, Dining room] the space was craving warmth and color.

Our front living room is fairly small but the high ceilings help make it feel open and welcoming. We’ve been in the house a couple of years and this front room has been fairly overlooked since bringing in the initial furniture.

Living room makeover: before

Instead of replacing the furniture, I’ve embarked on a project to update the ambiance with a few fresh additions to the room. Last week I shared how throw pillows can add personalization and color into a space. Today we’re looking at how area rugs can create structure for a room while freshening up the look.

Christmas Potluck Ideas for Work

When the office is busy, pot luck lunches make it fun to get away from your desk and spend some time with co-workers instead of slamming a grocery store salad at in front of the computer. I used to work at an office where everyone would bring in pumpkin themed food right before Thanksgiving. It was fun to see how everyone took the prompt (pumpkin) and would try to make a semi meal that wasn’t entirely dessert.

Planning a Christmas potluck is a fun way to bring holiday cheer into the office and I’ve put together a list of Christmas Potluck ideas for work that can help you get started.  Continue Reading…

Holiday Gift Bliss: Beachwaver Curling Iron

With a full schedule of events and parties, the holiday season is the perfect time for dressing up and going out on the town. Getting ready for a night out can be time consuming and making sure that your look holds up throughout the evening can ensure you enjoy the entire evening.

I have naturally wavy hair, which oddly makes it harder to keep a curl for more than an hour at a time but when I tried the Beachwaver Curling Iron I was impressed at how much longer the style stayed for. So far I’ve curled my hair before going to bed and sleeping on the style overnight and STILL had curls the next day.

The 1 1/4 inch barrel is perfect for longer hair and the rotating ceramic iron helps me to curl my hair in less time.

What Makes the Beachwaver Different

Most standard curling irons have a clip and you need to manually wrap your hair around the barrel. The Beachwaver is a rotating curling iron, so you clip your fair to the bottom and the barrel spins to tightly bring the hair into the curl.

The rotating barrel makes it easy to curl all your hair without having a mirror behind you and angling the way your hair wraps will change how the style looks.

Curling long hair is not easy, and often more work then it’s worth. The Beachwaver Curling Iron changes that, making curly hair something we can all enjoy!

With New Year’s Eve on the horizon, there is no better time to glam up for a celebration.
