May Reading List

It’s May! If you’re on track for successfully reading 50 books you should be at 16 books so far this year. This was my idea and so far I’m only at 10 so don’t worry if you are behind! It’s the challenge that is the motivation. 

We spent 2 weeks on vacation and I’m still just getting back into the swing of things so this list is a bit overdue – to make up for it, most of these are fun fluffy quick reads that will get you back on track if you are behind. 

The Fringe Series (Books 1-4) 

The Fringe Series is a young adult dystopian fiction following the lives of Harper and Eli, working as reconnaissance soldiers inside a nuclear proof shelter. Together they work to survive a community full of espionage and suspicion while at the same time facing the challenges of deployment into a post apocalyptic world.  All four books are quick read that you will not want to put down – I’m currently in the middle of book 4 and I assume there are more novels to come in this series.

The Selection Series (Books 1-5) 

The last book in The Selection Series was just released and there is no better time to start a series like this than when all the books are published so you can voraciously read through the whole set over a weekend. The Selection is the Bachelor meets the Hunger Games. Books 1 through 4 are told through the eyes of America Singer, a participant in the quest for a royal marriage. Books 4-5 pick up as the next generation comes of age and must decide if the outdated marriage competition should continue.

The Defy Trilogy (Books 1-3)

Another great series with all the books released and ready for to read! A combination of fantasy and adventure, Defy follows Alexa Hollen as she hides her gender for the opportunity to fight serve in the kings army (rather then be forced into the breeding house as a woman of childbearing age). If you like the story told in Game of Thrones, this is a great not nearly as dark and sexy style of fantasy writing.
