Growing up in Colorado the annual school field trip to the Denver Zoo was something we all looked forward to. Since moving back to the state I’m not sure when the last time I visited the Zoo was, probably at least 10 years. I’ve been working to improve my photography skills so I was so excited when my Mother in Law gave me a Mike’s Camera class as a gift for my birthday last month.
We spent an evening learning about ISO, F Stops and what types of settings we should use for long range photography and several weeks later the class headed to the Zoo for an early morning with the animals. With the beautiful morning light capturing all the outside animals was a bit easier, so to give us a challenge we also spend an hour or so inside the reptile house to try out low light photography. There is a briskness in the air, the leaves are starting to turn colors and football season has kicked off; it’s hard to believe it’s already fall. Although Colorado isn’t necessarily on the same level as the southern College Football scene, we can hold our own when it comes to firing up the grill on gameday. Every team says it, but when push comes to shove, there really are no better fans than Bronco’s fans. As a Colorado native I was raised on blue and orange, rooting for Elway and cheering as the Bronco’s brought home the Lombardi trophy in 1998 and 1999. Attending a game at Mile High is a special occasion, with individual tickets hard to buy and season tickets on a 30 year wait list so when I learned that I was the winner of not only game tickets, but also field passes before the game, I was ecstatic.
