We have a split-level home which means we get to have two completely unique living rooms. Our downstairs living room is set up as a family room, with the tv as a focal point. Our upstairs living room is the entry into the house, so I want it to be welcoming and a good place for hanging out.
When we moved in I was lucky enough to have a friend in my knitting group who needed to re-home some living room furniture. Now that we’ve been living here for two years it’s time to finish decorating and give this bland room a bit of a spruce.
Without buying all new furniture there are a handful of ways to change the environment in a room. I’ll be outlining three ways to update a rooms ambiance over the next couple of weeks, starting first with throw pillows.
I am a big fan of throw pillows. Despite Drew’s protests, I don’t think its possible to have too many pillows.
When I was looking for a way to add some fresh color, Shutterfly’s customized pillows were the perfect solution. Whenever I need photos or albums printed, Shutterfly is my go-to, in addition to photos, they happen to have a wonderful line of personalized home items ranging from candles to blankets.
For my living room update, I added three new pillows that would compliment the existing color scheme and add a bit of a personalized touch to the overall decor.
The Rustic Family Name pillow was my first pick. Already in the colors I had chosen for the room, I was able to add our last name and the year we were married. This is my favorite new addition to the room.
The Simple Monogram Pillow was my next addition. Personalized with our monogram and customizing the colors to match the rest of the decor, this pillow adds a bright and fun touch to the room.
When ordering from Shutterfly it would be remiss to overlook a pillow with a photo. I couldn’t not add a snapshot of my furry baby into the room and the doodle frame pillow captured her personality to a t.
Doesn’t she look so happy next to her pillow?
I love how much color the new pillows add into the room and can’t wait to share the rest of the room make-over with you. Next up I’ll be showing how a new rug can add color and life into a small space.
Disclosure: I received a product sample from Shutterfly in exchange for writing a review on Rocky Mountain Bliss. All opinions are my own.
