Hello, my name is Natashia McLean of Canary Jane! I live in Provo, Utah and I am an illustrator and lifestyle blogger. I love crafting and making printables to share with my readers. Read below to learn how to make my painted carrot vases, bunny tail garland, and printable carrot bunting!
This season, all of my crafts and decorations have been simple and charming. With my crazy life, these are the kind of crafts that help me relax and focus on the heart of celebration. For Easter, I wanted to show you how to use basic items, plus paint and glue, to add some carrot and bunny goodness to your home.
I’m super pleased with my carrot vases, they have the ability to display individual character! And who doesn’t love adding character to inanimate objects?
My bunny tail bunting is the epitome of easy, this is the craft to let your little ones help you with!
And because you always need more veggies in your life, I’ve created a printable carrot pennant banner that will add the perfect (disposable) touch to your mantle.
CARROT VASES
WHAT YOU NEED
Vases of different shapes and sizes – I used six and found them at a thrift store for under a $1 a piece
Orange acrylic paint
White acrylic paint
Medium paint brush
Real or Faux greenery
(OPTIONAL) Newspaper to put under the paint so you do not drip on your surface
HOW TO MAKE IT
Mix about a quarter of white and orange paint together to create a lighter orange color.
Take your vases and start painting the outline of the carrot using the mixed orange paint.
Fill in the carrot with the mixed orange. Allow 10 min to dry.
Next take the regular orange and use it to add a little contrast to the lighter orange by adding stripes along the carrot. Let dry for 10 min.
Stick the greenery in the vases for the tops of the carrots and that’s it! So easy! Just make sure to wash out your paintbrush.
