My grandma (and every women in my family for that matter) makes pork chops exactly the same way. Pan fried and seasoned with mustard. When I learned that Hickory Farms had a new Smoky Onion Mustard as a part of their Simply Hickory product line I was super excited to try out a family favorite recipe with a new twist.
The Smoky Onion Mustard adds the perfect amount of flavor into the meat, just smoky and sweet enough to add a unique finish to the dish. As a part of the Simply Hickory Farms family, there are no preservatives or MSG – which means theres no chance that I’ll have a headache later in the night.
With just two core ingredients this quick weeknight recipe is perfect for tossing together after a busy day. From prep to table the full meal takes less then an hour to serve.
Smoky Onion Mustard Pork Chop Recipe
Begin cooking by bringing a non-stick pan (with a lid) to a medium temperature. Pour a small amount of mustard into a dish. This will prevent cross contamination. Prep the pork chops coating them generously on one side with Smoky Onion Mustard.
Place the pork chops mustard side down into the frying pan. Coat the opposite side with mustard. Allow the meat to brown for 5 minutes and turn over.
Add a half a cup of water into the pan and cover with a lid. Water allows the pork to steam and become more tender as it cooks. It will also speed up the cooking process.
When cooked fully though (approximately 20 mins) or 145 degrees serve alongside your favorite side dishes. It’s just that EASY!
